A few days of spring

Finally some sunshine! Lots of catch-up work to be done on the farm: installed a new feed storage area made up of dog kennel fence panels. I had been trying to feed the little does Emi and Cami seperately, as the bigger goats always shoved them out of the way. The dog kennel kits were 10 x 10 (and on sale!), so I bought two of them and made a smaller area I could lock the little ones in when they ate. So far it's working pretty well and Cami, who was the most shy, comes when I call her and goes right into her dining room!

The lambs have been started on creep feed and ate a couple handfuls today. They get put into the smaller dog kennel while the other sheep are eating and I try to spend time with them so they get used to being touched. Vader, the ram, is so pretty. His wool is still very black with no sigh of silvering. Daria's undercoat is a really dark charcoal so he may end up keeping his back wool. He has a lovely head and is a little bigger than his sister, Valaree. I am looking into showing him in a fall fair if he does not sell this summer.

Zipper ("Kollene") has the softest fleece! She has taught the little lambs how to chase chickens and that jumping on everything is fun. She is such a character.

Hope and Joy, the crash-test goats, will be going to a new home one street over. During their windstorm escape last year, they ended up at a neighbor's house and made friends. After some fencing is put up, they wil have 5 acres all to themelves and will most likely end up sleeping in front of the fire on cold winter nights.
